Passion for Fishing 1

How did you become bars fishing Guide in the Morbihan?

I am passionate about fishing since the age of 5 years. This passion for fishing was forwarded to me by my father, we lived in La Roche-Bernard and so it was easy to get to on the edges of Vilaine, or on the coast to fish. Became Professor of EPS at the Beaumont of Redon, always in order to convey my passion to students, I created a sports section fishing (are there only 2 in Britain!). It took me getting the BPJEPS fishing leisure and complementary reference to teaching of fishing in the marine environment. For 4 years now, I am based in Sarzeau, specifically to the Logeo, small typical port from inside the Gulf of Morbihan. The setting is beautiful, from the slipway to the water, students have a view of the island to the monks, Govihan, Stibiden… My pleasure is to convey my passion for fishing, whether the bar lures or even that of the Royal sea bream in this exceptional natural setting. It’s very rewarding to take his first bar or his first bream to a trainee. The pleasure he felt to lure his fish is the drug of the monitor/fishing guide.

When you leave for “guidance”, what are the tips you give to your fishing apprentices?

First of all, I educate my students to safety, at the port of the lifejacket, on board it is mandatory. I give you some basics on navigation and on the boat (handling of the throttle, kill switch…).
Then, we tackle the technical advice related to fishing lures: how its fishing sector launch, how to animate his lures, how to choose…

Passion for Fishing 2

What is the right equipment?

Adequate material is closely related to research fish: bar, Royal sea bream…

  • For the bar one cane 2,10 m power 15 / 50g is quite versatile and can address the different techniques.
  • For fishing of the Royal dorade, a cane of 2.40 m to 2.60 m very resonant power 30 / 90g is adapted.

Regarding the lures for hunting down the bar, we prefer early season the soft lure armed with a jig head, then, as soon as the water warms, the bar is more active on the surface, we can fish on the surface with stickbaits or between-2-water with a jerkbait (hard to bib lures) or with small lures flexible in start/back.

The bars have the attitudes or quirks?

I start to fish the bar after its period of reproduction (January/February/March) when the water warms up and he gets to the coast, ie mid-April. When the water warms, it is all the pantry of the bar which is close to the coast and the bar following his food (sprat, sardines, mackerel…). At the beginning of season, we try to lure with flexible lures that mimic their favorite prey. The bar like the veins of current because they provide food but also rocky areas where he will find shrimp, crabs… Oysters in the Gulf parks are also of excellent fishing spots because the bar there is shelter and food, on this type of sector we prefer the illusion of surface or small soft lure back quickly.

Is the Gulf of Morbihan conducive to fishing to the bars?

Why?

Passion for Fishing 3

In connection with the previous question, the Gulf of Morbihan is revealed so be the paradise of the fisherman from bar. There are areas of fishing with very different profiles (veins, shoals, oyster…) bringing the sport to adapt and therefore use different techniques fisherman: fishing in traction at the big soft lure sealed type shad in the currents, fishing throw – back to the shallows with a small soft baits, fishing lures of surface above the parks or the heads of rock immersed…

At a time where we talk a lot of “animal welfare”, is also valid for the fish?

With a bit of common sense, one can imagine that a fish stung by a hook is a fish stressed, the fight to generate fatigue… Back to the water in the best conditions, do not linger to keep it out of the water: quickly remove the hook with pliers (you can to advance to crush the barbs of the hooks which makes this easier maneuver) and back into the water gently. You can hold it by the tail fin and perform movements of comes and goes, the fish being directed against the current, we will facilitate its reoxygenation and therefore its recovery.

If the fisherman wants to take a picture of his fish, avoid to put fingers to the level of the gills as the gills breathing bodies are fragile (so vital). We must firmly support the fish by the belly and head (this avoids the twists and that the fish falls to the ground).

All fish size not exceeding 42 cm must be systematically returned to the water.
